- The help of Spain to the Independence was enormous. The proposal to pay for it in subsequent years was unworkable, as it would have ruined the new nation.
- Virginia had spread into the interior of North America. The current territories of Kentucky and Tennessee are part of it. During her uprising against England she asked Spain for help. That aid is still unpaid
